Jana a král rybář/ Jane and the Fisher King... err, the kingfisher

The following link leads to a series of photographs of Jana, our minister's wife. Here is a wee story to go with it:

At the weekend, a friend of ours (a member of your prayer group) was christened in the brook near the Czech A Rocha centre in the beautiful nature of the NE of the Czech Republic.

The senior minister who administered the sacrament is also an ornithologist and the centre specialises in birdwatching.
Our newly-born sister in Christ used to help out there, so no wonder one of her christening gifts was a kingfisher that they caught the very morning.

During the celebration which followed, Jana asked the pastor if it would be possible for her to have a go at holding a bird...
"Sometime in future, you know,
perhaps next time when we're here..."

Within 15 minutes she was called out and handed a kingfisher.
The second one they caught that day.

The various young girls are members of our prayer group;
the long-haired young man is another conservationist from the centre (that's why he's not afraid of the bird);
the man in the blue stripy sweatshirt is our minister, Marek Šrámek
(Šimon stayed indoors - after all he's just two months and wouldn't remember much of it)
